Firing porcelain requires a prop that looks a bit like cotton batten to be stuffed around the free 
arms etc. Unlike ceramic it fires to a translucent glass-like, vitreous (non-porous) material that 
is brought to just below the melting point in the kiln. Watch this place for further developments 
in this craft.
